Hier ist der korrigierte Text:
You said no word
when You went to the cross
like a lamb to the slaughter
They tortured You
they put a crown of thorns on Your head
And You thought of me in the moment of Your death
and of millions You had chosen long before the earth arose
You thought of me as a child who loves You and will follow You
on the way You have shown
The night before, You cried, You prayed: let this cup pass by
You sweated blood, but You prayed: let Your will be done
There on the cross You gave Your life
for our sins You were crucified
This hour of darkness was Your victory
for Your kingdom shall come
Die wichtigsten Korrekturen:
- "you" → "You" (durchgehend) – Großschreibung bei Gottesbezug (wie in den vorherigen englischen Liedern konsequent gehandhabt).
- "thornes" → "thorns" – Rechtschreibfehler.
- "of millions you have chosen long before the earth was arisen" → "and of millions You had chosen long before the earth arose" – 1) "have chosen" (Present Perfect) passt zeitlich nicht zum vergangenen Bezugspunkt ("before the earth arose") – hier braucht es das Past Perfect "had chosen", 2) "was arisen" ist grammatisch falsch ("arise" ist intransitiv, kein Passiv möglich); korrekt ist die einfache Vergangenheitsform "arose".
- "as a child that you love and will follow you" → "as a child who loves You and will follow You" – 1) "that" → "who" (bei Personen üblicher), 2) "you love" → "loves You" (das Kind liebt dich, nicht umgekehrt – im Original war die Beziehung unklar/vertauscht; ich interpretiere es als "ein Kind, das dich liebt und dir folgen wird"). Bitte prüfen, ob das deiner Intention entspricht.
- "The night before you cried you prayed let this cup pass by" → "The night before, You cried, You prayed: let this cup pass by" – Kommas und Doppelpunkt zur Verdeutlichung der Satzstruktur ergänzt (sonst liest es sich wie eine ungeordnete Aneinanderreihung).
- "You sweated blood but you prayed let your will be done." → "You sweated blood, but You prayed: let Your will be done" – Komma und Doppelpunkt ergänzt; durchgehende Großschreibung von "You/Your".
- "for our sins you have been crucified" → "for our sins You were crucified" – "have been crucified" (Present Perfect) passt weniger gut als die einfache Vergangenheit "were crucified" für ein abgeschlossenes historisches Ereignis.
